In the city of eternal night "Ulbis", the forest of brass and steel blocks the sky, and the roar of steam and gears is the only pulse of civilization. Here, alchemy intersects with mechanical engineering, and lurking beneath the city is an ancient nightmare colder than steel and hotter than steam.
Ye Linchen, a skilled watchmaker, lives at the bottom of the city, running around for his sister who suffers from a mysterious "smart syndrome". His hands can repair the most sophisticated machinery, but he cannot prevent his sister's body from gradually turning into crystals and gears.
