Lin Xiao, born with all five spiritual roots, uses the Spirit-Gathering Pendant left by his mother to draw qi into his body, struggling to find his footing in the lower realms of cultivation. On the anniversary of his mother’s death, he returns home and encounters Foundation Establishment cultivators fighting. He unexpectedly acquires a storage pouch and his first resources. After uncovering his master Chen Feng’s plot to seize Zhang Kui’s body before his life runs out, he is forced to venture into the Misty Marsh in search of spirit herbs. Along the way, he saves the Zhang siblings and obtains Ironthread Poison Vine seeds to strengthen himself. He conceals his abilities with a Breath-Concealing Art and uses spirit vines to break through predicaments. Though his five spiritual roots are considered inferior, he will carve out his own path to triumph on this thorny road to immortality.
