The apocalypse has arrived. The world was destroyed by a silent calamity: emotions have been drained away, despair is the norm, and laughter is a luxury.
Lin Mo, a former tax bureau civil servant, is bound to the [Emotional Tax Collector] System. He can see everyone’s emotions and tax them by law.
“Your anger is over the limit. You owe tax.”
“Your hope is fluctuating. Pay your tax.”
“Under the Emotional Tax Law of the Apocalypse, enforcement begins now.”
He strips a thug of his “joy,” leaving him bewildered, and collects a mother’s “despair,” rendering her numb. He is the law of the apocalypse, a walking disaster. Even the strongest must keep their emotions in check before him.
Everyone sees him as a cold, heartless monster. They don’t know that he collects every emotion in the world to find a single, pure “joy” and bring his only sister back to life.
Then one day, the System sounds an alarm: [Source of the “Emotional Void” event detected: the “Ultimate Reaper.” Warning: Every emotion you collect is a tax payment toward Its return.]
Lin Mo adjusts his nonexistent glasses, looks toward the shadow covering the world, and raises his “tax record.”
“You’ve been evading taxes.”
“Now cough up everything, with interest.”
