"The Appearance of Officialdom" is the first of the four major condemnation novels in the late Qing Dynasty. It was written by Li Baojia (Li Boyuan). It exposes the corruption and darkness of the officialdom in the late Qing Dynasty with a pungent and satirical style. It is the pinnacle of modern Chinese satirical literature.
