The arrival of Lingxi sends the spirits of strange beasts from the Classic of Mountains and Seas flooding into the modern world. Newborns awaken at random, becoming “Lantern Bearers” who can command these spirits. The world is turned upside down!
At his awakening ceremony, Lin Mo summons what everyone considers a useless spirit: the E Beast, a rabbit that can only lie. It is ranked at the lowest level, Ninth Grade of the Vermilion Bird Realm. In an age when everyone seeks ferocious beasts like the Zheng and Taotie, he becomes the laughingstock of the whole school.
But as mockery and danger come one after another, Lin Mo discovers that his E Beast is unlike any other. Its power is not lies, but a Word Spirit that transcends the laws of reality.
“Your attacks can’t touch me.” And so, all techniques come to nothing.
“Supernatural powers are forbidden here.” And so, gods and demons retreat.
When the world-ending organization Guixu opens the gate to the Great Wilderness and countless ancient ferocious beasts trample the cities, the world’s strongest are powerless. Lin Mo strides through the air, the rabbit on his shoulder gazing indifferently.
He parts his lips and speaks the final truth to the demons and gods filling the sky, and to the entire world:
“I declare that this world belongs to humanity.”
“You are all illusions.”
[This is a story about “lies” defining “reality.” A rabbit and a young man leave the final footnote on this mad age.]
