"Generals of the Yang Family" tells the story of three generations of the Yang family who fought bloody battles in the Northern Song Dynasty, fought for the Liao Dynasty and defended the country through loyalty from generation to generation. The book begins with Yang Jiye fighting against the Liao Dynasty and being surrounded, and martyring his country by hitting the Li Ling Monument, and ends with the victory of the Twelve Widows in their expedition to the west. The book not only portrays the heroic images of the male generals of the Yang family such as Yang Jiye and Yang Liulang, but also focuses on portraying the heroic figures of the female generals of the Yang family such as Mu Guiying. It also exposes the darkness of the upper ruling class of the Northern Song Dynasty, such as the emperor's incompetence and stupidity, and the cunning and despicable traitor Pan Renmei.
