Mechanical engineer Chen Mo accidentally traveled to the war-prone Qiyuan Dynasty. He landed in a remote mountain village, which coincided with a drought leading to food shortages. Chen Mo used modern water conservancy knowledge to guide villagers in building simple reservoirs and diversion canals to alleviate drought. He also improved agricultural tools, made curved shaft plows and human-powered threshing machines, and increased grain production. This was discovered by a passing general who invited him to join the army. Chen Mo designed trebuchets and improved defensive equipment for the army to help the army repel foreign enemies. After the war, he refused the generous salary from high-ranking officials and established the "Gezhi Academy" in a mountain village to teach basic scientific knowledge and start the technological innovation of the Qiyuan Dynasty.
