There is a secret hidden in Su Wan's sketchbook - from the day he ran into her arms in the neurosurgery corridor, Lu Shiyan in a white coat has become the most frequent protagonist in her paintings.
She drew his focused silhouette next to the operating table, and her pen tip traced the hand holding the knife over and over again; she drew the old watch on his wrist, with the worn parts of the strap showing tenderness; she drew the way his ears turned red quietly when strawberry milk tea was splashed on his white coat. All those unspoken heartbeats were hidden in a painting by her.
Lu Shiyan's world, originally a cold one with only scalpels and medical records, gradually became filled with warmth because of this girl who was always secretly drawing him.
• He would use the excuse that "the operating light in the painting is wrong" and add her on WeChat, but he would repeatedly edit "what I drew today" in the chat box;
• He posted the "White Coat Illustration" she gave him on the refrigerator in the duty room. When his colleagues joked, he only said, "The proportions of this painting are very accurate", but the tips of his ears were so red that they were hot;
• He remembered that she would get hungry while painting late at night, so he would bring a strawberry cookie to the studio every day to "drop in" to see her, which actually took him three detours;
• He put his grandma's old watch on her wrist and said, "From now on, I will spend all my time painting with you."
From secret sketching in the sketchbook to two-way confession in the studio; from snuggling side by side on the painting table to the promise of the rest of life on the beach; from the daily fireworks of two people and a dog, to a happy family inside and outside the painting.
Su Wan finally understood that her paintings were always more than love, but also the home of her heart - and the end of this warmth was Lu Shiyan, him, and the whole life they had painted together.
