A Bao’s Diary

A Bao’s Diary

Synopsis

Core Concept:

The moment ordinary high school student A Bao opens a mysterious bronze casket, the gears of his destiny slip completely out of place. Yesterday, he was memorizing his lessons; today, he has become the vessel of an ancient Shu kingdom’s shaman-priest. Between the urban campus and a veil of eerie fog, he embarks on a desperate quest to suppress an awakening evil god.

Story Overview:

After receiving an unmarked bronze casket, A Bao begins dreaming of an ancient palace shrouded in Gray Fog and hearing countless prayers that cross the boundaries of time and space. When he wakes, he discovers he has gained supernatural abilities: understanding animal speech and glimpsing other people’s misfortunes. Meanwhile, torrential rain causes a landslide on the hill behind the school, and strange black water begins seeping from an ancient Shu kingdom sacrificial site. His classmates start behaving strangely one after another.

Only when he sees a picture in his history textbook of “the last shaman-priest of the ancient Shu kingdom,” bearing his own face, and reads the caption saying that he “willingly became a sacrificial offering to suppress the evil god,” does he realize he was no chance bystander: he is at the heart of a ritual left unfinished a thousand years ago. The bronze casket that set everything in motion burns with ghostly blue flames on his desk, calling him to fulfill an ancient duty.
