Core tone: Mystery and investigation, power struggles, chivalry and honor, a touch of fantasy (optional, such as enhancing Bao Zheng’s ability to judge cases by day among the living and by night among the dead), passionate brotherhood, and a small amount of romance that does not drive the main plot.
Main cast:
· Bao Zheng (the core): Both wise and brave, impartial and stern, but not rigid. Exceptionally perceptive, with outstanding powers of logical deduction. He possesses a “Heavenly Eye” (or heightened intuition), allowing him to uncover the truth in the smallest details. Decisive in action, merciless toward enemies, and deeply protective of the common people and his subordinates. The team’s central mind and spiritual leader.
· Zhan Zhao (the martial arts and jianghu specialist): The “Southern Hero,” with some of the finest martial arts skills in the land and exceptional agility. Steady in temperament, yet full of chivalrous spirit; he is deeply loyal and devoted. More than a bodyguard, he is Bao Zheng’s close friend and most reliable man of action. With an extensive network of jianghu connections, he handles martial-world affairs and tough fights.
· Gongsun Ce (the strategist and technical specialist): A master of medicine, poison, mechanisms, disguise, calligraphy and painting authentication, and more. Meticulous in thought, he helps Bao Zheng with his deductions and provides technical and scholarly support. Gentle in nature but with a sharp edge beneath, he occasionally clashes with Bao Zheng intellectually.
· Wang Chao, Ma Han, Zhang Long, and Zhao Hu (the field agents and grassroots team): Each has their own strengths, such as tracking, brute strength, interrogation, or gathering street-level intelligence. They are Kaifeng Prefecture’s backbone, handling practical operations and carrying out assignments with unwavering loyalty. They play a key role in the face-slapping scenes typical of wish-fulfillment fiction.
