Two protagonists. The male and female leads have no romantic relationship, only pure friendship and camaraderie in battle.
The villainous heroine Lin Xiao, mentally corrupted by an evil god, × Lilith, the elder sister evil god (yuri). Note: Lin Xiao loves Lilith in every timeline.
Second protagonist: Chen Yuan, a male psychiatrist and scientific rationalist who becomes an immortal evil spirit, all to wait for a chance to save his beloved. This is a male-male romance.
The story spans multiple timelines, so the first two volumes may feel confusing. Please keep reading. Things should become clearer around Chapter 4, when Chen Yuan’s romance begins.
This novel updates daily with at least 4,000 words, so you can follow it without worry. The plot sometimes moves too quickly, and details may be filled in at the end of each volume, especially in the first three.
(Volumes One and Two include brief summaries of Chen Yuan and Lin Xiao’s timelines, but do not explain the worldbuilding. Read the final chapter of each volume carefully for a detailed explanation. Characters in each timeline are distinct individuals with different personalities.)
The heroine, Lin Xiao, is a folklorist. Her academic writing concerns things beyond description, objectively recording the things that emerge from her hallucinations and gradually reveal another world. This is because, since childhood, she has been forced to keep an indescribable “evil god” from the Western Cthulhu mythos.
When a psychiatrist tries to use scientific methods to treat a group of villagers who claim to be haunted by a “mountain demon,” he discovers that he, too, is beginning to see the same hallucinations. He must face a desperate question: are the patients’ delusions infecting him, or has an ancient being that refuses to be observed and has neither name nor form truly taken root in his world through “cognition” itself?
