The Forgotten 1001st Time

The gods treat all living beings as pieces on a chessboard, wagering on a game that reverses time.

As the only awakened piece, I try to save the one I love through a thousand cycles of reincarnation.

Then I discover that her death was a willing sacrifice, meant to break the prison of time holding me captive.

As the 1001st reversal begins, I smile faintly at the void. “This time, it's my turn to save you.”
