Beijing has launched special rectification work on the coal industry in Northern Xinjiang Province. In this retrospective investigation, some years of irregularities have gradually come to light.
Nie Huaiyu, who once served as director of the Provincial Energy Bureau, now serves as deputy director of an agency. Over the years, he has built up his own network of contacts based on his familiarity with policy. Through equity holdings, fictitious transactions, etc., State-owned coal resources are transformed into tools for personal profit-making. As the investigation progressed, flaws in these covert operations began to appear.
Provincial disciplinary agency Li Zhenggang led a task force to investigate. After this rectification, the atmosphere of the coal industry in Northern Xinjiang Province has been significantly improved, and resource allocation has become more standardized, creating a good environment for the healthy development of the industry.
