Jiang Shixia transmigrates into a book as the doomed ex-wife in a feel-good story about the wealthy. In the original, she constantly targets the heroine, only to be sent off to Africa to work in the mines by her ruthless, powerful husband, Mu Chen.
With the plot in hand, she knows just what to do: run! Jiang Shixia packs her bags that very night, ready to take her savings and disappear.
On a dark and stormy night, a thunderbolt strikes out of nowhere. She crashes her suitcase into her husband Mu Chen, a man of few words and brutal action, and somehow becomes connected to his sense of pain. (Actually, the pain is transferred to her!)
And so…
When Mu Chen is poisoned by his stepmother, Jiang Shixia spends the next minute vomiting her guts out.
When Mu Chen's biological father plots a car crash, Jiang Shixia trips on flat ground and rolls around in pain.
When Mu Chen is ambushed and clubbed by his half-brother (or half-sister), Jiang Shixia clutches the back of her head and yelps!
Jiang Shixia: “I can't live like this!” For the sake of her poor back, legs, and head, she's forced to take up the noble cause of “protecting the big boss means protecting myself.”
From then on, wherever the big boss faces danger, a familiar figure is always right there beside him:
Someone offers him spiked wine? She smears his face with medicated plaster.
An ambush? She makes a dazzling entrance in an excavator.
With her patchy memories, Jiang Shixia manages to throw Mu Chen's descent into darkness completely off track.
At last, the heroine makes her grand entrance. Jiang Shixia takes the divorce papers from her hands. “Please give these to him for me. Thanks!”
Jiang Shixia turns to embrace her freedom. On a sunny afternoon, someone grabs her around the waist from behind, their voice trembling with hurt. “Don't go… If you leave, who'll feel the pain for me?”
“???” Buddy, if you had this blessing, would you even want it?
