A Brief Explanation of the Theory of Consciousness-Only Theory

"The Theory of Consciousness-Only" is an annotation of Vasubandhu Bodhisattva's "Thirty Verses on Consciousness-Only" by ten great commentators including the Dharma Protector of India. It was translated into essence by Master Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. It is the fundamental text of the Consciousness-Only Sect of Dharma. This treatise takes "Consciousness transforms all dharmas" as its outline, systematically expounds the profound meaning of "all dharmas are only known by consciousness", establishes exquisite systems such as "eight consciousnesses", "three natures", "four divisions" and "transformation", and reveals the complete steps of cultivation from ordinary people to Buddhahood. The current work "A Brief Explanation of the Theory of Consciousness-only" follows the ancient tradition of commentaries and is divided into ten volumes and one hundred chapters. Each chapter uses modern language to explain the profound meaning in simple and in-depth terms, supplemented by ancestral interpretations supported by scriptures. It takes into account both academic rigor and practice guidance. It is hoped to open the key to the treasure house of consciousness-only for scholars and shine a mirror on the mystery of the mind.
