In the winter of 207 BC, in the south of Xin'an City, the blood of 200,000 Qin soldiers surrendered soaked the frozen soil. Captain Sima Wuchang crawled out of the sea of blood from the mountain of corpses, carrying a blood-stained jade pendant and the belief to "climb out like a wild dog", and became a survivor who should not exist in that tragic massacre.
He kept his name anonymously and became Liang Chen.
From then on, his life was cut into two halves: one half is the present as Liang Chen, a soldier of the Han Dynasty, forging ahead in the war between Chu and Han for hegemony, from the fierce battle in Xingyang to the siege of Gaixia, witnessing the great changes of the times and the rise and fall of heroes; the other half is the past as Sima Wuchang, the lone soul of the Qin army, burdened with the silent gaze of two hundred thousand robes, and a promise that was accidentally obtained in troubled times, but as heavy as a mountain.
On one side is the torrent of history, on the other side are personal joys and sorrows. On one side is the opportunity to make achievements, on the other side is the bondage of blood feud. On one side is the power confusion in Chang'an City, and on the other side is the slim hope in Funiu Mountain.
When the smoke clears and fame is a thing of the past, how will Liang Chen choose? Can he get through the fog and find the green mountain where all his warmth and concern are entrusted? Is what the jade pendant is tied to another cruel lie, or is it the glimmer of light that he has traveled through blood and fire to pursue?
This is a story about survival and remembrance, hatred and forgiveness, sacrifice and protection. This is the struggle and search of a small man in the grand history. What he is ultimately looking for is not the belonging of the world, but the return of his own soul.
