Ayu, a girl from a fishing village, raised her family alone after her father died at sea. She improved fishing nets, explored new fishing grounds, taught villagers to cultivate kelp and oysters, and resisted the oppression of pirates and fishing tyrants. She eventually led the fishing village to develop marine aquaculture and became the "goddess of the sea."
