Ling Yanshu, a former archivist, struggles to survive in a world ravaged by a biomechanical cataclysm called Rust. This cataclysm not only slaughtered lives, but also twisted flesh and metal into grotesque and aggressive structures. He spends his days scavenging, looking for relics of old-age technology called "cores" to maintain his small, impregnable shelter. However, his solitary existence is shattered when he intercepts a mysterious radio broadcast referring to a "sanctuary" unaffected by rust. To find this fabled place, he must journey into the perilous ruins of the Old World and face not only mechanical terrors, but also the equally desperate and ruthless survivors. This is a journey about survival, discovery, and the struggle to find a glimmer of hope in a world devoured by decay.
