In the 23rd year of the Republic of China, on the night when the Yellow River burst its banks, young Shen Yanbai witnessed his close relative being dragged into the mud by a green-faced ghost. Only the half-piece of bronze soul-suppressing mirror left by his grandfather protected him. Since then, he has become the only mirror-keeper in Yincao Town. He uses the mirror as a blade and blood as a guide to guard the ancient pagoda barrier that connects the Yin and Yang worlds.
Strange things happen frequently in the town: the sound of needlework can be heard in the embroidery building in the middle of the night, corpses from the coffin shop always disappear before the rooster crows, and children repeatedly chant "Grandma with red shoes is knocking on the door." Shen Yanbai followed the clues and discovered that behind these evil spirits, there was a curse that spanned three hundred years - every generation of mirror keepers must sacrifice their souls on their 25th birthday to stabilize the barrier.
When the scarlet ghost mist once again enveloped Yincao Town, Shen Yanbai stood under the ancient locust tree holding a hot soul-suppressing mirror. On one side was the mission of blood inheritance, and on the other was the life of Aman, a girl he had just met who could see ghosts.
