In 1995, Yichen tells the story of a "poor boy" who transferred from a mountainous area in Guangxi to Guangdong. Through a series of absurd, sad and wise struggles, he finally passed three college entrance examinations and was admitted to the Department of Preventive Medicine at Tsinghua University, and found his direction in life. The language of the whole text is humorous, full of self-deprecation and irony, but the core deeply reflects the propositions of education, class, growth and self-identity.
