In the 23rd year of the Republic of China, Wangfeng Village in Yunxi County, northern Guangdong, was shrouded in fog that was so thick that it could not be dissolved. The villagers contracted strange diseases one after another - high fever, black marks on the chest, and some people died mysteriously after going to the old grave behind the village. Their bodies turned black as if their essence had been sucked out.
Taoist priest Xuanzhen, who came out of the mist, used his peach wood sword, yellow talisman and copper bell to temporarily suppress the evil spirits in the villagers. However, he discovered that the source of the strange disease was the "corpse evil" deliberately raised in an old grave at the back of the village, which also involved a mysterious black hand that could control the evil spirits.
As the investigation deepens, the secret of a century-old corpse hidden in the ground of an abandoned ancient house at the east end of the village, and the desire to become the "King of Corpses" comes to light. The remains of a wandering Taoist priest who was seriously injured and died while trying to eliminate the evil hint at a larger evil conspiracy. While using Xuanmen secrets to protect the villagers, Taoist priest Xuanzhen also traced the mastermind behind the scenes. Under the threat of thick fog, evil spirits and the corpse king, he vowed to uncover the truth and protect the people of Wangfeng Village and even Yunxi County. A battle of exorcism spanning decades began.
