The Canglan Realm is a fantasy world ruled by sword power. At the age of six, children must awaken their draw-swords at local Sword Awakening Platforms. The swords are graded as Common, Sword Void, Sword Manifest, Sword Screen, and God-Slaying, but these grades do not affect the rules for absorbing sword cores. The sword-core system is exactly like the soul-ring system in Douluo: each age range corresponds to a fixed color, with white for 10–99 years, yellow for 100–499, purple for 500–999, black for 1,000–9,999, red for 100,000, and crimson gold for a million years. Of the ten ranks from Sword Initiate to Sword God, sword masters can absorb only one sword core within the corresponding age range at each rank. The core appears as a glowing orb of its corresponding color, circling the user and unlocking one unique sword skill. Sword masters must hunt sword beasts to obtain cores, then use their sword power to wield their blades and advance their skills. The protagonist, Ling Kong, lost his mother at a young age and was raised by his father. When he awakened, he appeared to have only an ordinary draw-sword, but in truth, he possessed a secret sword of the God-Slaying rank. Thus begins his journey to rise from the bottom.
