Hao Heng is a laid-back observer in the Court of Causality. His daily job is to record “users of the law” being erased by the backlash of their own powers.
He is the universe’s only bug, born without cause or consequence, untouched by all laws. Then Ying Wan, a gifted law officer, falls before him, burdened by a backlash that is certain to kill her as she tries to save her family.
As everyone watches in horror, he casually crushes the thread of causality binding her to death, and the force of the backlash sinks away like mud into the sea.
The Court is furious. The wanted notice reads: “Hao Heng, lawless criminal, to be apprehended immediately!”
Hao Heng laughs. They want to talk rules? They clearly have no idea that he is the one and only loophole in the rules!
