"The Wind Watching the Strait" is a soulful epic that spans half a century, and delicately depicts the fate and perseverance of separated families on both sides of the Taiwan Strait from the perspective of a female broadcaster. In 1949, Zhang Huaiyuan, the newly married young master of the Zhang family, was forced to take a young man to Taiwan. He hastily separated from his pregnant wife Lin Xiulan, leaving only the words "Wait for me when I come back." From then on, a strait separated life and death, but also separated us from lovesickness for a lifetime.
On the mainland, Lin Xiulan experienced the pain of losing her son in the turbulent years, but raised her adopted son with amazing tenacity and always kept her promise to her husband; on the other side of Taiwan, Zhang Huaiyuan struggled to survive in loneliness, pinned his homesickness on a "nostalgic grocery store", and never remarried in his life.
