At the office, my coworkers laugh at me for raising fish in my water glass, saying I’m wasting my time on frivolities.
I lower my head and smile. This is humanity’s first quantum ecosystem tank.
One afternoon, as I feed the fish in the break room, a little fish suddenly leaps out of the water and speaks: “Host gene sequence detected. Initiate civilization evolution program?”
The entire building suddenly trembles and rises into the air. Outside the windows, a space fleet blots out the sky.
The CEO drops to his knees, trembling. “Who are you, really?”
I casually tease the little fish. “Just a bored creator god.”
