The Elevator Descends One Floor

Elevators throughout the city keep malfunctioning, carrying passengers down to a mysterious B1 floor. Gu Qian and the others are trapped inside. They must contend not only with disappearing floors and time coming to a standstill, but also with life-or-death verdicts decided by online “comment votes” from the outside world. As the 4040 Hz ringing in their ears grows worse, they discover that the System runs on the heartbeats of missing people. This horror is no accident: it is the beginning of the cancerous mutation of a silent city's civilization. Escaping the elevator is only the first step in a cycle of despair.
