The Mystic Sister in Hemp Robes

Sold into the mountains to be the fool's bride, I became the whole family's hope for carrying on the bloodline. I pulled out my compass and pointed it at my mother-in-law's face. “Your face brings ruin to your children. You're destined to die without descendants.” Then I turned to my father-in-law. “Black smoke rises from your ancestral graves. Three generations of your family are destined to live in poverty.” The whole family was terrified, and I became the village's only female fortune-teller, reading fortunes and feng shui and making a fortune every day. The people who once bought me begged for my forgiveness. I replied coolly, “Our ties are severed. I am the retribution you deserve.”
