She, Shen Yi, is the unluckiest screenwriter of her generation, bar none.
She’s halfway through a script when the entire cast goes on strike. Even her cat can’t stand how poor she is and sneaks out the window in the middle of the night. Her life is already a complete mess, and then her own mother treats her like an ATM: “Sweetie, your little brother needs to go to school. Could you work some overtime?”
Just as she’s frantically revising her script and cursing her melodramatic fate, a message suddenly pops up on her computer: [System error. Repair now?]
Her hand slips, and she clicks “Yes.”
And then she transmigrates.
The proud, modern independent woman opens her eyes to find herself as Ye Qingyi, the tragic empress from her own script, who is deposed from the start and killed off by the third episode! The Servants’ Quarters are drafty, her quilt is moldy, the eunuchs and maids roll their eyes at her, and the emperor looks at her as if she were a plague. Worse still, the original script makes it perfectly clear: within seven days, she’ll be given a silk cord and poisoned wine, and sent to the next world!
“Wait!” Shen Yi slams her hand on the table, though it’s really just a battered wooden desk. “I wrote this show! I make the rules!”
Just then, a mechanical voice rings in her mind:
[Ding! The Fate-Reversing Screenwriter System has been activated.]
[Task One: Rise from deposed empress to empress in power, and make the emperor kneel and beg you to take him back.]
[Task Two: Find the real culprit and clear your name.]
[Task Three: Rewrite the ending and return to the modern world alive. But first, you have to make the audience want a sequel!]
Shen Yi sneers. “Oh? Then I’d better have some fun with this.”
And so, the palace is no longer quiet. The deposed empress is back in business...
It's so beautiful. I found it by accident 👍 [admiration]
