In the Years of Famine, I Have a Daily Discount System

When Chen Sanbao was so hungry he was dizzy in his earthen house in Hualian Village, he tripped and fell, awakening the Daily Discount System. Every morning, it offered him a flash sale: sometimes he could choose between two options, and sometimes he could grab two or three items in a row. He might trade 20 copper coins for one tael of silver, one copper coin for 100 jin of premium rice, or broken silver for a carbon-steel knife that could chop firewood like mud. It all depended on his luck that day.

At first, he only dared to trade for rice to fill his stomach, afraid the silver would give him away. Later, after saving some money, he used the System's perks to get two loyal underlings. They scouted the hills behind the village and kept an eye on the rabbit holes, and little by little, the family's granary filled up and their earthen house was renovated. Before long, he had become someone the villagers could count on. But their peaceful days did not last long. Disaster struck Hualian Village: first, a drought ruined the harvest, then an epidemic spread, leaving villagers dead or fleeing.

Relying on the food and herbs he snapped up through the System day after day, Chen Sanbao fled with his mother and a few trusted companions. Along the way, he encountered many fellow villagers fleeing the disaster. He used supplies traded through the System to save them, then got more loyal helpers and gradually gathered a group around him. No longer content to hope merely for a peaceful life, he learned to use the System to plan routes and stock supplies. Little by little, he built a small force of his own on the run, all so he could protect those around him and carve out a way to survive in a chaotic age.
