The Princess's Frail Side Consort

Feng Jingtang was the legitimate son of the Feng family. At seven, he entered the palace to serve as a companion to the princes and grew up with the heir to the throne, Princess Jian Yaoyao. He was destined to become consort to Princess Yihui, but when his family was suddenly framed, he became the son of a convicted criminal. The empress spared his life but demoted him to a secondary consort of the princess, forcing him to share his wife with Xiao Lingchi, the battle-hardened Prince of Yong'an. Bearing the shame of his family's destruction, Feng Jingtang tread carefully through the imperial palace. Though he appeared frail and sickly, in secret he used his astonishing talent to draft the Illustrated Plan for Flood Control in Lougang, hoping to revive his mother's clan, the Yue Bai survivors, by taming the floods of Moonwhite Lake. But the empress's game had already begun: Marquis Anyuan's treason, Dongfang She's corruption, Xiao Lingchi's poisoning… It was all a cruel reflection of the emperor's schemes to keep everyone in check. When his childhood friend, the princess, took another consort, when Kong Shi died in a blood-soaked prison, and when Xiao Lingchi fell on the battlefield, Feng Jingtang finally shed his gentle facade. He made his sickly body a blade and flood control his stratagem, unleashing a storm that swept through the court amid the raging waters. Those he had once admired and those he had once hated all became casualties in his game of revenge… “The most poisonous thing in this world has never been the poisonous grass, but the hand on the dragon throne that can turn the tides at will.” Feng Jingtang chuckled through a mouthful of blood, holding a dagger to the princess's throat as the first snow of winter drifted down outside.
