Do not apply these rules to real life. These are rules. Read them carefully.
1. Schedule: Every night from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the next morning, you must stay in your room with the door locked. Do not go outside under any circumstances, and do not open the door for anyone.
2. Neighbors: The residents in this building keep to themselves. Avoid talking to your neighbors unless absolutely necessary. Pay special attention to the woman wearing red shoes and the child who is always coughing. If you see either of them, immediately look away and return to your room as quickly as possible.
3. Bathroom: Do not use the bathroom between midnight and 1:00 a.m. Take care of your needs before or after that time. If you hear any strange noises from the bathroom during that hour, such as a dripping faucet or a flushing toilet, do not investigate. Pretend you didn't hear anything.
4. Mirror: At 3:33 a.m., do not look directly into the mirror on the vanity in your room for more than three seconds. If you accidentally see something strange, close your eyes immediately and repeat “I went the wrong way” three times in your head.
5. Food: You may take anything you like from the refrigerator, but do not eat any red-packaged items labeled “For Guests Only.”
6. Help: If you encounter an emergency you cannot handle, call the property management office at the number on the back of this note. But be warned: the property management office is staffed only during daytime working hours. The one who answers a call at night may not be “human.”
7. Most important: No matter what sounds you hear in the hallway or next door, including but not limited to crying, laughter, knocking, or heavy objects being dragged, do not get curious, do not respond, and do not try to investigate. Remember, you live alone.
