Chronicles of the Liang Family of Tianjin

Centered on the Liang family compound in Tianjin, this is a history of a family’s changing fortunes from 1978 to 2027. From the early days of reform and opening up, when Liang family members each sought their own path, Liang Guoan heading south to make his way in Guangzhou, middle-aged Liang Zhu returning to university, and Liang Lan starting a business in Shenzhen, to a new era in which the younger generation uses digital technology to preserve the family’s memories and take its culture beyond Tianjin, reaching places such as Shanghai’s Shikumen and Guangzhou’s arcade streets, the story follows an ordinary Chinese family as it perseveres and grows amid the tides of the times.

The main cast spans three generations: Liang Shouyi, the father, upholds the family motto of “being an honest person” and serves as the cornerstone of its spirit; second-generation members such as Liang Lan and Liang Guoan venture boldly into the reforms and lay the foundations for the family’s development; third-generation members such as Liang Xiaoyu and Li Nian use technology and youthful energy to breathe new life into the family legacy.
