The Female Physician Su Lingwei

Su Lingwei, daughter of the Imperial Medical Academy's Vice Director, is forced to enter the palace as a low-ranking maid after her father is imprisoned on charges of poisoning the Noble Consort. Relying on her family's medical skills, she makes a place for herself in the Laundry Bureau and secretly investigates her father's wrongful conviction. Then, to her surprise, consorts throughout the imperial harem begin suffering from a strange affliction called "loss of speech," which leaves the imperial physicians helpless.

Su Lingwei risks treating the disgraced Worthy Consort with an unorthodox remedy and discovers traces of a rare Western Regions poison called Silent Dust in the medicinal residue. The source of the poison points to the beloved Consort Li. While using her role as a healer to move among the palace quarters and gather evidence against Consort Li, Su Lingwei must also guard against the Empress's suspicions. The Empress intends to use the poisoning case to eliminate both Consort Li and Su Lingwei's father. At last, while examining the emperor's pulse, Su Lingwei uses golden needles to expose Consort Li's scheme of poisoning people with incense before everyone present. But then she learns that her father's imprisonment years ago was deliberately arranged by the emperor to balance the power in the imperial harem.

After leaving the palace, she travels the world as an itinerant physician, using her medical skills and compassion to help patients overcome all kinds of rare and difficult diseases.
