It tells the story of an immortal cultivating world where heaven has collapsed and rules are out of balance. Shi Qing, an orphan, started out as a bricklayer in a border town. After accidentally obtaining a "Sky Mending Stone", he became involved in a thousand-year dispute between humans and monsters. He takes "repairing the way of heaven" as his own mission, explores "what is the right way" while honing his mind and swordsmanship, and deals with the Confucian Confucian Temple, the Taoist Xuandu Temple, the demon tribe and the wild wilderness, and finally takes up the mission of "guarding the heart and protecting the way" as a mortal.
