Hu Wenying was born in the 1960s into a military family. Her mother favored sons over daughters, and her father had once had an affair, so Hu Wenying was treated coldly from birth. When she was little, her mother once took her younger brother and went to join her father, who was stationed far away, leaving Hu Wenying behind in the countryside to live with her grandparents. Later, she endured it all and persevered in order to find a place for herself in the family. As she grew up, she helped her parents with the housework from an early age and looked after her younger brother and sister. At the same time, she had to put up with her parents' disdain. During this period, she met the Li Zhenbin family, who gave her a love that was more like family than anything else. For various reasons, she narrowly missed out on going to university. Her first love, Li Zhijun, died in the Sino-Vietnamese War, dealing her a devastating blow and leaving her with lifelong regrets. After graduating from nursing school, she began working. Before long, through her own hard work and talent, she rose from an ordinary nurse to deputy secretary of her workplace's Communist Youth League committee. Later, for personal reasons, she resolutely resigned and returned to nursing. She then met Chen Yu, an orphan raised by adoptive parents, and mistook pity for love. Despite her parents' opposition, she married him. After seventeen years of marriage, the two eventually divorced. Though neglected and hurt by her family, she never gave up on pursuing a better life. She raised her son on her own and helped him grow into a success. After years of hard work, she became director of nursing and a hero in the fight against the epidemic. Having weathered life's joys and sorrows and the warmth and coldness of human relationships, she used her kindness to bring her family back together and found happiness in her later years.
