Content warnings:

1. A slow burn! The main plot is still palace intrigue, with cultivation and palace intrigue complementing each other. The title might be a little misleading, but I can't change it now. Feel free to click away if it's not to your taste! The main plot generally follows the original story.

2. A warning for readers who like wicked heroines: the female lead doesn't like killing people and enjoys rescuing them. First, she's a kind modern person who received nine years of compulsory education. Second, I believe that the more powerful you are, to the point where no one poses a threat, the more easily you can feel compassion for the weak. Third, in this story, good deeds earn merit that helps with cultivation.

3. She doesn't enter the palace and immediately act like she owns the place. The protagonist is cautious and doesn't assume there are no masters hidden within the imperial palace. In this story, the emperor is protected by the Heavenly Dao. The worldbuilding will gradually become clearer as you read.

4. I promise not to make the characters OOC. All the recognizable characters will retain their established personalities, though the minor details can't be exactly the same.

5. The first eight chapters set up the cultivation storyline. If you don't like that, you can start at Chapter Nine instead; you won't miss much.
