Jade Behind Palace Walls: A Concubine's Daughter's Bid for Power

Shen Qingci, a concubine-born daughter of the Marquis’s household, is forced into the palace to escape a marriage alliance arranged by her family. She is initially granted the lowest rank of Talented Lady, with neither family influence nor the emperor’s favor, but she turns the tables with a clear head and ruthless tactics. When a noblewoman makes things difficult for her, Shen Qingci uses the woman’s own schemes against her, leaving her to lose face and suffer punishment. When a eunuch frames her, she finds hard evidence to clear her name and restore order to the palace. When an ally betrays her, she cuts ties decisively, never looking back. From a remote palace courtyard to becoming a favorite before the emperor, from an unknown concubine-born girl to the apple of his eye, Shen Qingci plans every move carefully, protecting herself and those she cares about amid the inner palace’s deadly intrigues. She and Emperor Xiao Yi fall in love despite their suspicions of each other, holding fast to a pure romance amid political schemes. In the end, she rules the inner palace with her wits and wins the emperor’s heart with her sincerity, rising from the lowest-ranked Talented Lady to the empress who holds the phoenix seal, and writing a tale of triumph within the palace walls.
