In 2242, the world was ravaged by mutated creatures called "Chimeras", and the surviving humans huddled in the giant city "Aegis". Ling Xiu, a cynical but highly skilled "Magic Weapon" mecha pilot, makes a living as a "Breaking Hunter", hunting Chimera in the wasteland outside the city in exchange for resources. His only purpose is to make money to cure the rare genetic disease that his sister suffered from as a side effect of the "Big Crash". However, a seemingly ordinary mission takes a turn for the worse, and Ling Xiu unexpectedly uncovers a surprising connection between the city's ruling group, a new type of intelligent Chimera, and the truth about the "Great Collapse." Forced to question everything he knows, Ling Xiu not only fights for his sister's survival, but also forges a way forward for what's left of humanity.
