In the Liang Kingdom of the Southern Dynasties, Buddhism is revered to excess. The emperor has offered himself to a monastery, while undercurrents surge through the court. Yuan Tianmu, the Northern Dynasty's God of War, marches south at the head of iron cavalry to seize the Buddhist treasure, the "Fusheng Map," his forces bearing down on Luoyang.
Gu Changfeng, the finest swordsman in Jiangnan, is drawn into the turmoil by a mysterious silk scroll. From then on, one peril follows another: assassins on rainy nights, ambushes at ancient temples, and sudden upheavals in underground palaces. He thinks this is merely a struggle over a treasure tied to the fate of the realm, but then discovers that his own origins are inextricably linked to the map and to the earth-shattering secret left behind eighty years ago, when Patriarch Bodhidharma crossed the river.
The ambitions of the Northern Dynasty's iron cavalry, infighting within the Southern Dynasty, the shadowy figures of the Netherworld's demonic sects, and hidden currents in Buddhism's sacred grounds... The various powers intertwine like a web, ensnaring him from every side.
When the ultimate secret of the Fusheng Map is revealed before the Dharma Cave of Shaolin, what awaits him is not only the martial truth of shattering the void, but also an inescapable destiny and karmic reckoning, and a choice that will determine the fate of all under heaven.
Amid the raging tides of a troubled age, will he drift with the current, or strike the sword that severs karma?
A treasure map that stirs the lands of North and South; a destiny that writes the myriad wonders of mortal life.
It's so beautiful. I give it 9.8 Points. It involves many elements. Gu Changfeng's heroic spirit is a bit like Sky 8. The writing and story are both top-notch!
It's super nice. This novel has a bit of a demi-god vibe. I highly recommend it.
