In an age of chaos, the world is a furnace that turns its people to ash. Demons run rampant, treating human lives as food. Imperial authority has collapsed, and the immortal sects look on with cold indifference. This is an age when reason no longer holds sway, and only power speaks loud enough to be heard.
In a dilapidated little city buried beneath snow and wind on the empire's desolate northern frontier, a young man named Li Zhige came of age. In his hands was a heavy black-iron halberd passed down by an unknown predecessor. Within him lay a forbidden inheritance he himself did not yet fully understand: the Demon-Devouring Heaven-Swallower Art.
This art can devour the blood and vital energy of demons, along with the true essence of enemies, and make it one's own. It is a shortcut to supreme power, but also a cliff's edge leading into the demonic path of madness. Relying on this art, Li Zhige leaves the border city and plunges into the bloody turmoil of the age.
He has witnessed the horrors of parents eating their own children, endured the betrayal of loved ones who fell in a hail of blood, and seen the cold indifference with which the so-called strong regard all living beings as ants. So he sets his own path:
Since law and etiquette have fallen away, and benevolence is useless, I will use the halberd in my hands to sweep away every injustice!
Since immortals and gods are unkind, and demons plague the world, I will use this body that can devour demons and swallow heaven to carve a bloody path through the human realm!
Where the black-iron halberd points, demons fall. The art devours heaven, and all techniques are broken. From a lowly border soldier to the Heaven-Devouring Demon Venerable, whose name makes the Three Realms tremble, Li Zhige's answer never changes:
In an age of chaos, empty talk is useless. Only killing can end killing, and only the halberd can stop the halberd. If Heaven stands in my way, I will use my strength to reach Heaven itself!
