The Tang Dynasty's Detective and Strategist: The Tale of Xia Ren

Modern young man Xiaren transmigrates to the Tang Dynasty. Starting out as a constable in Chang'an, he makes a name for himself by solving the “Rice Shop Owner's Sudden Death” case with modern forensic techniques.

He debates the court and persuades Li Shimin with the argument that “a stable populace means a solid foundation for the state.” He joins the army on a northern inspection tour and drives back the Turks with a fire attack strategy. He reforms the garrison troops and makes an example of corrupt officials. When a Turkic delegation provokes him, he uses evidence of their internal discord to leave them speechless, earning the title “Great Tang's Military Strategist.”

With the brilliance of a “master detective,” he also cracks baffling cases involving palace thefts, a princess's poisoning, and ghostly shadows in Chang'an. His on-site evidence gathering and logical deductions solve one cold case after another, earning Li Shimin's praise: “Your wisdom is almost divine.”

As military strategist, he devises plans to pacify Liang Shidu, secure the Western Regions, and defeat Tuyuhun. He unites with Xueyantuo through a strategy of “using barbarians to control barbarians,” helping Li Shimin usher in the prosperous Zhenguan era.
