The Black-Scaled Dragon's Path

After a car accident on a rainy night, Lin Yue thought his life had come to an end. When he opened his eyes again, he had become a tiny black-scaled snake that had just hatched in a southern rainforest. He had no claws or fangs, and repeatedly failed even to catch insects. Birds of prey circled overhead, weasels lurked below, and a single downpour could put his life in peril.

To survive, he shed his human arrogance, feeding on morning dew and lying in wait for prey. At the edge of life and death, he awakened the ability to "perceive." To grow stronger, he left the rainforest and ventured into the mountains, competing with giant pythons for dens and using mountain ginseng to aid his molting. From a Daoist, he glimpsed the path to harnessing the "spiritual energy of heaven and earth," gradually turning human wisdom into a powerful survival tool for a scaled creature.
