The Marquis's Legitimate Daughter: The Marquis's Beloved

Lin Wanqing, the legitimate daughter of the chancellor’s residence, is schemed against by her stepmother and stepsister and forced to marry Xiao Jue, the gravely ill Marquis of Jing’an, as a substitute bride meant to bring him good fortune. Everyone expects her to face nothing but cold treatment in the marquis’s household, but she uses her shrewdness to put wicked servants in their place, fight her stepmother, and protect loyal attendants, securing her footing one step at a time. The cold-faced Marquis Xiao Jue is indifferent to the marriage at first, but Lin Wanqing’s resilience and intelligence repeatedly move him. He goes from supporting her in secret to openly doting on his wife: “Anyone who dares touch my wife will have to answer to me first!” As layer upon layer of conspiracy comes to light, Lin Wanqing discovers that the sickly marquis has been sheltering her all along: “From the day I married you, you were never a substitute bride. You are the only wife I, Xiao Jue, will ever have.”
