In Suzhou in 1928, embroiderer Lin Xiuyue was famous for her superb embroidery skills, but she was jealous of her peers and harassed by local bullies. She met Lu Jingming, a journalist who came to Suzhou for investigation. Lu Jingming reported on her experience and helped her fight for a fair environment. The two gradually fell in love while guarding the embroidery skills.
