My Lord Snake, Please Restrain Yourself

On the day I came of age, my clan chose me as an offering to the Snake Lord.

They said I would be torn apart and devoured, my soul denied even the chance of reincarnation.

But when I awoke, I was lying on a jade bed covered in scales.

The Snake Lord brushed my cheek with icy fingertips. “I’ve waited a long time for you, my bride.”

Later, all of Southern Xinjiang saw the forbidden Snake God Temple light its eternal lamps for me.

And the family that once cast me aside knelt outside the temple, begging me to save them.
