At the Feast of the Pond, held once every thousand years, Jin Xiu, the ruler of the Central Heavens, fell in love with Hong Ning, a little red tea demon who had accidentally wandered into the Flower Festival. He took her to the feast and petitioned the Ninefold Heaven Emperor for permission to marry her and make her his divine queen. Later, the little red tea demon died. Five hundred years afterward, the divine lord Jin Xiu met a mortal woman who had trespassed into his residence in Dragonbone Cave. She looked remarkably like the tea-flower sprite who had already passed away.
