Gene Fusion: The Water Bears Enslave Humanity

For thousands of years, humanity has pursued immortality. In the future, genetic fusion technology lets people live for centuries, but it also plants the seeds of destruction.

Unemployed doctor Chen Ren is callously fired by the hospital after questioning a report on “tardigrade gene mutations.” On a rainy night when he drinks to drown his sorrows, the mysterious scientist Chu Ting appears and pulls him into a shocking conspiracy: tardigrades are not passive symbionts. They have developed intelligence and are quietly seizing control of their Hosts, creating impostors known as “Doppelgängers.” Chen Ren’s sealed report is the key evidence in this crisis.

With Chu Ting’s help, Chen Ren risks impersonating the hospital director to infiltrate the hospital’s inner sanctum and expose the truth. But he faces not only layer upon layer of tight security, but also the cruel betrayal of the person closest to him: his wife. He discovers in despair that his gentle wife, Wan Qing, has long been controlled by a Doppelgänger and turned into a cold-blooded killer intent on his death.

The collapse of his personal world turns Chen Ren’s grief into strength. He forms an alliance with Chu Ting and, with the help of the alluring and mysterious secretary Liu Yuelan, ventures into the forbidden gene-testing zone beneath the hospital. There, a global replacement program known as “Crab Slave” is counting down to launch. They must race against time to find a way to reverse the control signal before the Doppelgängers fully awaken.

This is a covert war that will decide humanity’s survival. Chen Ren must not only contend with powerful enemies in a perilous world, but also find, amid the ruins of his shattered heart, the last hope of saving the woman he loves and all of humanity.
