The Rugged Man and His Tencent Executive

After retiring from the special forces, former soldier Lu Yu returned to his hometown to raise geese and farm the land, living like an isolated island, cut off from the world. Then one day, his childhood friend Jiang Chen appeared at the goose farm entrance, exhausted and dragging a suitcase. A former director at a major internet company, he had been drained of his last ounce of strength by the 996 work schedule and fled back to his hometown.

Lu Yu silently took him in. By day, Director Jiang applied the same drive he used to make PowerPoint presentations to optimizing the goose farm's supply chain. At night, he could only sleep soundly on the heated brick bed, warmed by Lu Yu's military quilt. The villagers joked, "That roughneck Lu Yu treats the geese like his soldiers and spoils Jiang Chen like a goose."

Lu Yu thought he was healing Jiang Chen's city-worn spirit, but he didn't know that Jiang Chen's smile was the only medicine capable of healing his own postwar psychological scars. When a crisis strikes the little goose farm, the retired soldier king and the former director join forces to protect not only their shared business, but also the home they had spent their entire youth waiting to find.
