After My Daughter Was Bullied by Her Teacher and Got Zero on a Perfect Score, I Went on a Rampage

My daughter locked herself in her room, crying so hard that her whole body trembled.

I pried the door open. In her hand, she clutched an exam paper that had been torn to pieces and painstakingly put back together.

It was a paper from a math competition. The answers were all correct, but the score was a glaring zero.

“Dad,” she sobbed, “the teacher said 3x5 isn't the same as 5x3, and that I was taking a shortcut. He tore up my paper in front of everyone, disqualified me from the competition, and told the whole class not to talk to me...”

I saw the deep red scratch on my daughter's wrist and picked up the phone, calling the principal directly.

“I'll ask just one question: how does driving a child who loves math to her death benefit your school's reputation?”
