The story takes place in the giant city "Mirror City" in the near future. This city represents the pinnacle of technological development, with holographic advertisements everywhere, maglev transportation networks extending in all directions, and artificial intelligence butlers penetrating every home. However, extreme technology does not bring the same spiritual satisfaction. Society is highly atomized, and real emotional communication between people has become scarce and expensive. Instead, it is replaced by various standardized and customizable virtual emotional experience services.
In this context, an underlying physiological phenomenon called "mental imagery" is revealed: strong emotional fluctuations in humans will release a special bioelectrical signal, which can be captured, recorded, and even limitedly "compiled" by specific technical equipment. As a result, a hidden gray industry—the "emotional black market"—came into being. What is traded here are not physical items, but fragments of various extreme emotional experiences: the throbbing of first love, the ecstasy of victory, deep sadness, and even the fear of death. People with scarce or strong "mental image" resources become "emotional miners" in the black market, while those who can compile and process these raw emotions are highly skilled "emotional tailors."
Our story revolves around a young man who unexpectedly acquires top-level emotional compilation abilities, and a female police officer with extremely special emotional qualities. They are drawn into a vortex intertwined by technology, desire and human nature. Not only do they have to face all forces in the black market, but they also have to explore the value of "true emotions" in a highly technological city.
